November 2017

Halloween Disco

Thanks to everyone who came to our recent Halloween Disco, and a special thanks to all those who volunteered on the day.  The Halloween Non-Uniform Day, along with the disco raised £1000 which will go toward the next phase of our playground project.  Well done everyone!

 Copper Drive

This term we introduced our copper drive initiative.  Every class has been provided with a decorated bottle where you can donate any loose change.  The class with the most bottles filled at the end of the school year will win extra playtime.  The children seem to be really enjoying feeding their bottles!  A special well done to Year 3 who have already filled their first bottle after only 2 weeks!  Please keep our copper drive in mind next time you have a pocket full of change.

Personalised Christmas Cards & Gifts

Thank you for all your personalised Christmas card and gift orders.  We had some really lovely designs and every child should now have received their order.  We home your friends and families enjoy the artwork done by your children this Christmas.

Quiz Night -  17th November

Our latest quiz night was a huge success.  Thank you to everyone who took part and to those that helped.  Well done to the winning team, Brainspotters, who took home our brand new Nonsuch Primary School Quiz Champions Cup!

Non-Uniform Day - 8th December

Friday 8th December is our Christmas non-uniform day where the children can wear their own clothes in return for a bottle of wine or boxed chocolates, which will be used for our tombola.  A letter will be sent home nearer the time, advising what item each class should provide.

Christmas Fair - 9th December

A huge amount of planning is currently underway and excitement is growing for this years Christmas Fair which will take place on Saturday 9th December from 2 - 5pm.

We are organising a significantly larger fair this year with a Christmas market featuring over 30 stallholders including an inflatable ‘Winter Wonderland’ and children’s swing ride.  The fair will also include many children’s games, hair braiding and nail painting, tombola, café, bar, hot food and much more.  Please come along and do some last minute Christmas shopping while the children are entertained!

Our ever popular Santa and the ‘Secret Room’ will be available to pre-book as normal so please look out for the booking forms nearer the time.  For parents new to the school, our Secret Room is open to children only and for a small cost they can purchase gifts for family and friends.  All gifts are wrapped and gift tagged (with the assistance of our year 6 children) so it is a lovely surprise for the recipient.  We will be asking for suitable donations for the secret room so please set aside any gifts or treats that would make ideal Christmas presents.

Our raffle promises some amazing prizes this year and includes: tickets for Wicked the Musical; River Club membership; Bletchley Park family ticket; Bockett’s Farm; Godstone Farm; Birdworld; Peri Village meal for 2; family ticket to Leeds Castle; ‘The Play That Goes Wrong’ tickets; swimming lessons; riding lessons, as well as prizes from all our stallholders and many others.  This year we will be sending home pre-printed raffle tickets worth £5, which we hope your child may be able to sell to family and friends.  Additional raffle tickets will be available on request.  This is a great way to support the school and a good opportunity to win some really amazing prizes!

This year we are very lucky to have a photographer attending who will be taking family photo shoots in the library with an optional Christmas backdrop.  Sessions are 10-15 minutes and cost £15 which will include two photographs and a selection of the best digital images.  A Parentmail will be sent with more information and details of how to book a slot.  Places are limited and are sure to be very popular!

We are very excited to have a recital of popular children’s Christmas tunes sung by our own children at this year’s fair.  At 4pm, in the school hall, the children will be singing a couple of Christmas songs with the performance lasting approximately 10-15 minutes.  All children are very welcome to participate and rehearsals will take place during lunchtime.  A Parentmail has already been sent regarding this and how to sign your child/ children up.

As we’re planning a much larger fair this year, we’re advertising externally and would love everyone to invite all their friends and family to join us.  Please help us spread the word.  We have adverts going in local magazines, posters in local shops and thousands of leaflets being distributed around the local neighbourhood.  We are lucky to have an estate agent on board who is printing several thousand leaflets for us, however, we would also love our children to design some leaflets which we can copy and also post through doors.  If you’d like to help distribute leaflets please speak to a member of FON.  If your child would like to design a flyer, this should include details about the event including the school name, date (9th Dec) and time (2-5pm).  Please hand any artwork into the office to pass to us.  Many thanks!

As always, we really appreciate your support for these large events.  We could not run them without the help and support we receive from parents.  If you would like to be involved in the planning, or have any spare time to volunteer, either before, during or clean up after the event, then we would really love to hear from you.  Please speak to Amanda Jacob, Fiona Prior or the school office.

MOVIE NIGHT – 15th December

Our final event of the year is an after school movie club for the children on Friday 15th December.  This will be £5 per child (including popcorn) and will take place straight after school like a regular club.  This term we will be showing the film ‘Elf’.  Look out for more details via parentmail.

CLEAR OUT COLLECTION – 16th January

If you are planning a clear-out in the New Year, please save any unwanted items for our ‘Bag2School’ collection on January 16th.  ‘Bag2School’ are the UK’s leading textile recycler and will help us raise much needed funds for our school.  They will collect the following ‘good quality’ items for RE-USE:-  clothing, shoes, bags, hats, scarves, ties, jewellery, lingerie, socks, belts, soft toys, linen, curtains, towels and bedding.  More details to follow nearer the time.

Quiz Night – 19th January, 2018

Our next quiz night will be Friday 19th January.  Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start (adults only).  This is a hugely popular event so if you would like to enter a team please email ‘friendsofnonsuchprimary@gmail.com’ as soon as possible.  The cost is £5 per person or £10 including food and we accept teams up to a maximum of 8 people.  Can you steal the ‘Nonsuch Primary Cup’ from the reigning champions, team ‘Brainspotters’?!!

Kindly note that the quiz is no longer ‘bring your own’, as we have a cash bar on-site.  This will sell wine, prosecco, beer, soft drinks, water, crisps and chocolate.  Should you have a request for anything additional, please let FON know and we will try to accommodate if there is enough demand.

Thank you for your continued support – it is greatly appreciated and makes a huge difference to our school and our children!
